Filimon family

This newly designed family coat of arms was created for a couple—a priest and a church painter—who wished to mark their new home with a symbol reflecting their faith, professions, and personal heritage. Each element was carefully chosen to represent their identity and values.

The design incorporates the Argeș River, flowing near a home, as a symbol of the landscape that surrounds them. Their newly built house is also depicted, signifying stability and a place of spiritual and artistic devotion.

A golden ox, the symbol of Saint Luke, is featured alongside a paintbrush, paying homage to the saint’s role as the first icon painter of the Holy Virgin Mary and drawing a parallel with the wife’s profession as a church painter and expert restorer.

Additionally, a scroll bearing a Christogram represents the family name, Filimon, alluding to the Epistle of Paul to Philemon. This element also reflects the couple’s deep interest in theology, history, and religious studies.

At the crest, a white dove holding a cross stands as a symbol of peace and faith, reinforcing the couple’s spiritual devotion and commitment to their religious calling.

This coat of arms serves as a timeless emblem of their faith, craftsmanship, and dedication to both art and spirituality.
