Ex libris - Drăgan-George Basarabă
This ex libris was designed for Drăgan-George Basarabă, incorporating elements inspired by his personal coat of arms. While not strictly heraldic, the composition reflects a key motif from his armorial bearings—the horseback rider with a lance. Here, the rider emerges from the pages of an open book, symbolising the way history, personal heritage, and heraldry are preserved in written records, connecting the past with the present and safeguarding knowledge for future generations. The book itself represents the owner's personal library, marking his collection of treasured volumes.
The design was initially drawn by hand using a fine ink liner, then scanned and digitally refined. To ensure it harmonised with various book interiors, it was printed on different shaded papers, allowing for an elegant integration into the owner's collection. The warm ochre sun in the background adds depth and contrast, reinforcing the timeless nature of the design and the enduring value of recorded history.
