Commune of dumești, iași
This newly created coat of arms was designed to provide the commune with a distinct and meaningful heraldic identity, as no historical emblem previously existed. Each element has been carefully chosen to reflect the heritage, geography, and history of the region.
The green field symbolises the Sărăturile de la Valea Ilenei nature reserve, an important natural landmark within the commune. The golden oak represents both the wooden church of Saint George in Păușești and, through its five acorns, the five villages that form the commune. The red fess follows the heraldic tradition of Moldavian coats of arms from the interwar period.
The horse’s head is taken from the coat of arms of the Murguleț family, while the two eagle heads are inspired by the heraldry of the princely Ghica and Cantacuzino families, all former landowners of the villages that now make up the commune. The silver mural crown with a crenellated tower signifies the commune’s administrative status.
This coat of arms was approved by the local council (HCL No. 68/13.11.2023) and is currently awaiting the next steps of official recognition.
