Bota de Alba-Iulia Family
The coat of arms of the Bota de Alba Iulia family was granted by Michael Apafi I, Prince of Transylvania, on 10 October 1664, along with Transylvanian nobility status. The blazon reads as follows: A red shield, its field adorned with green, upon which is depicted a man dressed in white attire with a Hungarian-style black hat. In his right hand, he holds several stalks of wheat, while in his left, he carries a staff used to guide the workers threshing the grain. Above the shield rests a military helmet, surmounted by a royal diadem richly adorned with precious stones and pearls. From the crest of the helmet, ribbons in various colours cascade gracefully, framing and embellishing both edges of the shield.
Since the ennoblement diploma does not feature the customary heraldic miniature in the top left corner, our reconstruction was based on a later rendition of the coat of arms from the early 20th century, which served as the foundation for our library painting.
