Radeș de Berivoii-Mici family

The coat of arms of the Radeș de Berivoii-Mici family was granted on 4 February 1680 by Michael Apafi I, Prince of Transylvania. The recipient of the ennoblement was Nicolae Radeș, a former serf of the noblewoman Ama Apafi, sister of the prince. The blazon granted alongside the ennoblement is as follows: A shield, specifically a vertical, triangular military shield, celestine in colour, with a base of green grass. Within the main field of the shield stands a full-length figure of a man, upright, with a fierce expression. To his left lies the freshly severed head of a Turk, while to his right, a sword, stained and dripping with blood, is raised aloft, vibrating with intensity. Above the shield rests a closed military helmet, adorned with a gracefully decorated crown set with precious stones and pearlsakin to a royal diadem. From the crest of the helmet, elegantly flowing ribbons in various colours cascade down both sides of the shield, embellishing it.

As was customary in Transylvanian heraldry, the coat of arms was depicted in miniature in the top left corner of the diploma. Drawing inspiration from the original painting, we preserved the shield’s shape and its decorative metallic border.
