Csomortáni Family

A colorful family crest with a blue shield, featuring two golden lions, surrounded by ornate blue, gold, red, and silver decorations. Above the shield is a knight's helmet, a crown, and a hand holding a sword. Below the crest, there is Latin text and the name Somortani with the year 1722.

Granted in the Kingdom of Hungary in 1722, the Csomortáni family’s coat of arms is a quintessential example of Hungarian heraldic tradition. The shield, rendered in a rich cœlestini coloris, features two golden lions sitting back to back upon a grassy green plain—a naturalistic and striking composition.

Above the shield, the crest showcases a timeless symbol of Hungarian nobility: an armoured arm brandishing a sabre, embodying martial prowess.

This coat of arms was later documented by Count Gyula Andrássy in his 1913 work Liber armorum Hungariae, cementing its place in the heraldic legacy of Hungary.
